„I am convinced that any interference from them in our country goes against our sovereign interests. We do not need Russia to fix our own problems—we have not forgotten and will never forget how harmful Russia’s interventions in our country have always been!

Romania must not allow itself to be used in international ‘games,’ whether by Russia or any other country! I have personally suffered from the abuses of certain Romanian prosecutors, but I have never sought help from any foreign country. I believe that all candidates (including Călin Georgescu) should be allowed to run without external pressure—whether in favor of or against them. I also believe that prosecutors must do their job according to the law, and I trust that judges will correct them if they make mistakes (just as they did in my case).

I firmly believe that the politically motivated cases fabricated by Kovesi and her allies were stopped by Romanian judges, even though Kovesi had, and still has, the disgraceful and complicit support of the EU leadership! I want us to be truly sovereign—not only in relation to all countries and organizations worldwide but especially in relation to Russia, with whom we have a long history of tragic experiences!

I expect the interim president to take a firm stance today—one that truly represents Romania! WE MUST PUT ROMANIA FIRST!” declared Victor Ponta.
