Public request for a response from Luminița Odobescu – Minister of Foreign Affairs
Mrs. Luminița Odobescu – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania
Based on Law 52/2003 regarding decisional transparency, we request that you publicly provide an answer to the following question:
How many individuals, listed by name and surname, are in illegal or abusive possession of diplomatic passports or electronic diplomatic passports issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania?
We remind you that, in accordance with Law 248/2005, Article 8, updated:
„The diplomatic passport is the travel document issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the conditions of this law, to the following categories of persons, to facilitate their representation of Romanian state interests abroad.”
Furthermore, Article 9 states:
„(1) Diplomatic passports are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its specialized structure, at the request of interested institutions or public authorities, which pay the cost of the passport and specify the purpose and capacity in which the holders will travel abroad based on these travel documents.”
We are requesting this information to verify the list of individuals in illegal possession of diplomatic passports and electronic diplomatic passports issued by the ministry you lead, a list provided to us by our sources.
We are confident that you will also consider individuals from the business sector who do not represent the Romanian state, those whose official activity has ended but whose diplomatic passports have not been withdrawn, as well as individuals with dual citizenship, including Moldovan, who face legal issues in Romania or in their country of origin.
