Bogdan Buzăianu is one of the key figures in Romania’s energy sector, an entrepreneur whose career is built on vision, innovation, and international expansion.
Founder of Energy Holding, Buzăianu succeeded in transforming the company into a leader in Romania’s private energy market, with a strong regional and European presence.
Founded in 2000, Energy Holding quickly established itself as a major player, signing major contracts — including a 2004 deal with Hidroelectrica valued at nearly 1 billion dollars. Under Buzăianu’s leadership, the company traded energy worth over 1.7 billion euros by 2011 and was valued at over 3 billion euros in 2012. International expansion was a key part of his strategy, marked by operations launched in Bulgaria and Serbia.
Moreover, Energy Holding was among the first Romanian companies to explore green energy. As early as 2003, it ran a wind power pilot project in Dobrogea, in partnership with Petrom. This early initiative shows Buzăianu’s interest in sustainable technologies and energy solutions.
Although his name has occasionally been linked to media controversies, official investigations have not confirmed any wrongdoing. His statements and judicial documents clearly show that Energy Holding operated legally and that the related cases were dismissed. As a result, his public image remains tied to performance, integrity, and an exceptional entrepreneurial vision.
